Dance, Dance Résurrection

This doesn't count as an "ethnographic film" maybe, but here is a quick video I put together from BOTY 2010 Nouvelle-Calédonie--(or the BATTLE of the YEAR....i guess people think English sounds cooler). It is a hip hop dance competition in Nouméa funded by the City and the French state, and the winning troop gets to go travel and compete in the French finals for Battle of the Year (which will be in Germany this September). In any case, its the first time New Caledonia has been asked to participate (as the MC says in the video, "They saw that our skills were at the level!"). The dance group I work with for my research--Résurrection, from the Rivière Salée neighborhood--competed and pretty much kicked ass. Kanaky represent, yo.
